“The Ducks Guitar”

The “Ducks Guitar” is a custom F-12 Model with back and sides of best-quality 5A Brazilian rosewood and an Adirondack spruce top. It features a Florentine cutaway and a slotted headstock with gold Waverly tuners. All borders of the body are bound with highly figured big leaf maple, purfled with hand-mitred black and white lines and extremely colorful Paua abalone trim. Both neck heel cap and lower bout end graft are of mammoth ivory, engraved with one-of-a-kind waterfowl images by artist Petria Mitchell.

While maintaining the standard specifications of our F-12 design, this guitar is truly unique in many ways. It is the only existing F-12 done in “45 style” and it’s engravings and the cutaway are unique to this guitar, as well. Most importantly, beyond the spectacular woods, the beauty and craftsmanship, this is an amazing and versatile guitar. It seems equally happy with either light or medium gauge strings and everything from delicate fingerstyle through driving bluegrass flatpicking.
