How to Order

There are two ways to order a guitar from us. You can either work with us directly, or you can go through one of our dealers.

Commissioned guitars

If you order from us directly, we build the guitar for you in a very specific way. We will spend whatever time is necessary to be certain that we know what you’re hoping to have the guitar do in terms of voice, playability, and appearance. Design parameters such as body size, shape, and depth; top, back and side materials; appropriate proportion of all components; scale length; neck/body attachment point (12 or 14 fret); and neck dimensions and proportions are all considered and determined in consultation with you.

Pricing on commissioned guitars is strictly retail. We require a 50% deposit and establish approximate start and delivery dates. Then we build the guitar. Sometimes that process involves a lot of communication, sometimes not much, depending on the complexity of the project and the needs of the parties involved. As we go, we can send pictures of the instrument in process, and give progress reports, until the date arrives when:  A) customer comes through with the balance due, B) the completed guitar heads for home, and C) the fun begins!  The timeframe from order to delivery is usually in the neighborhood of four to six months.

Dealer orders

For some, the thought of buying a guitar without playing it first doesn’t seem possible. Others are looking to trade in their spouse or their kid’s baseball card collection as deposit. For these folks we recommend our dealers (Just kidding, none of the dealers take spouses or baseball cards. In fact, I’m probably in big trouble for even suggesting it!)  Seriously though, our dealer network includes a wide variety of stores, all characterized by their devotion to customer service and their ability to appropriately match players with guitars. If you’re looking to find an existing guitar or trade up for one, call around (find a dealer).

"Just a note: Back in April of 2001 I purchased F-12  #F501 (a Standard with slotted headstock, herringbone binding and rosette) from one of your dealers. Everytime I've ever e-mailed you about it you've always seemed to remember that particular guitar for some reason.

"Well, it's been nearly 5 years now since that day, and I just wanted to tell you how happy I've been with it. I've owned no less than a dozen acoustics in the last ten years or so, including an $8000.00 Ryan that I waited two years to receive from K.R.

"All of them have come, and then gone . . .   except for Froggy #501.   It will never, ever leave."
